Action Plan for Electrification of Road Transport

In December 2008, the Minister of Transport and Communications took the initiative to convene a resource group in order to draft an action plan for the electrification of road transport.
The Norwegian Electricity Industry Association, known by its Norwegian acronym as the EBL (now Energy Norway) , was tasked with chairing this work.
The resource group worked in accordance with the following mandate:
The resource group shall draft an action plan for the electrification of the transport sector. The action plan shall encompass in full or in part electrically powered vehicles based upon battery technology. The action plan shall include proposals for measures involving:
- Infrastructure
- Buying and use of electrically powered vehicles
- Other possible areas that are important for the electrification of road transport
As a natural part of its work on an action plan, the resource group will also propose targets for the phasing in of electricity in road transport.
